Aaron:
thank you for your help. Since I am a bit lost on the new sourceforge, please let me know when you are done restoring the files and please let me know what information I should provide. (You can send me a private e-mail to the address from my profile; do you have access to it?)
Concerning the BVME project, it is moving forward pretty well. We are still delaying the transition to the new buildroot for a variety of reasons: (1) I wrote extensive documentation describing all the customizations done under the kernel 2.6.28. Redoing the documentation means lots of work. (2) AX88180 driver was not mainlined, so we will need to move it to 3.x and document the process. It is more effective to delay this work as long as we can.
Our immediate pain is that dual core was broken in 2.6.28, so we keep using only one core. One of our grad students is looking into fixing this issue in 2.6.28. If he succeeds then we will be able to stick to 2.6.28 for a long run.
My dream is that Blackfin with gigabit MAC will be released eventually. If it happens then I will quickly redesign the baseboard and we will upgrade the kernel accordingly. Unfortunately, ADI is slow in recognizing the need for gigabit Ethernet. It is our biggest worry. We are sticking to BF561+AX88180 despite its poor performance. (Robin warned me against AX88180, but what can we do if nothing else is available?)
Thank you,
Wojtek
