1.For the short circuit protection, you can choose the maximum output current to be either 16mA or 8mA. This can be for protection for a short circuit to ground or as a maximum output current limit. If this limit is reached, the FAULT bit is set low and the status register will indicate a VOut fault.
2. The +Vsense and -Vsense Pins are used for remote sensing of the load to predict and to compensate for any drops in voltage. It is not related to the short circuit protection.
If this feature is required connect the +Vsense pin to the positive side of the load and -Vsense pin to the negative side of the load.
If not needed, tie the +Vsense pin to the Vout pin and -Vsense pin to GND.
