Re: ADV7619 color space conversion

Your test does not match my test, and your analysis of what is happening in my test does not relate to my test or what I'm seeing.  Here is more precisely what I am doing:

1080p60 YCbCr -- 7619Rx/7511 eval brd --> sink

Step

INP_COLOR_SPACE

RGB_OUT

OP_656_RANGE

Pixel Bus (OP_FORMAT_SEL)

7511 Y1Y0 (reg 55)

Comment

1

0 (RGB, default)

0 (YPbPr, default)

0 (0-255, default)

0 (8 bit SDR ITU-656, default)

RGB 444

Image shows YCbCr decoded as RGB.

2

0 (RGB, default)

1 (RGB)

0 (0-255, default)

0 (8 bit SDR ITU-656, default)

RGB 444

No change

3

3 (YCbCr 709)

1 (RGB)

0 (0-255, default)

0 (8 bit SDR ITU-656, default)

RGB 444

Pink image I posted above

Step 1 Boot the ADV7619/7511 eval board with the source connected to port A and the sink connected to the eval board output.  Notice the image matches your posted image of YCbCr decoded as RGB.  Also the monitor menu reports it is set to display RGB.

Step 2 Change RGB_OUT to RGB.  There is no change at the output (I don't know why this is)

Step 3 Change INP_COLOR_SPACE to YCbCr 709 input.  Now the ADV7619 should be converting YCbCr input to RGB_OUT, as I understand the workings of the 7619.  Instead the image has a pink hue.

I never changed anything on the 7511, but the Y1Y0 bit was set to RGB, indicating that the 7511 is putting out RGB.  This points to the 7619 not actually putting out RGB, not the sink having wrong infoframes.  The sink indicates it is processing the image as RGB, and the image in step 1 supported that it indeed is.  In step 3 the image should have become correct.  Instead it went pink.

My source is a Quantum 802R, which is DVI only.  My sink is a Dell 3008 WFP.

As a side note, I also have a Quantum 882EA, but when I set it to DVI mode (Interface --> HDMI-D, then go to source --> options, it only allows me to put out RGB -- no YCbCr).  I don't know why yours is different, and I don't know how you're getting into DVI mode YCbCr.

Can you please run my test and try to reproduce the problem I'm seeing.  What you did is more complicated and seems to involve different defaults on the 7619?
