Re: AD9914: crosstalk during initialization

Hi,

to be honest, it is hard to point out what is really wrong with your setup. Would you please send a pic of your setup?

Also, I have here step by step configuration for parallel mode on AD9914 eval board.

  • Provide 1.8V and 3.3V
  • Settings
  1. i. “Parallel Data Port Enable”, CFR2 bit 2 = Checked
ii. “Parallel port streaming enable”, CFR1 bit 17 = Unchecked
iii. “Profile Mode Enable”, CFR2 bit 23 = checked
  2. iv. “Digital Ramp Enable”, CFR2 bit 19-20 = Unchecked
    v. “Program Modulus”, CFR2 bit 16 = Unchecked
    • RESET-BUF tied to MCU to generate reset on power-up
    • Programming Registers

If a RESET was performed only two registers needed to be sent

  1. 1. CFR2 = 0x00C00000 (SYNC_CLK off)
  2. 2. Profile0_FTW @ 500MHz --> 0x2C8590B2
    • P203 to P205 changed to disable buffers
    • PS[2:0] all tied to GND
    • IOCFG[3:0] all tied to GND

Additional Notes:

If  you want 8-bit mode, set MP100 (PWD) tied to GND.

MP102 (!WR) tied to MPU for write control.
IO_UPDATE tied to MPU for write control.
